kalimera.dev

A CLI installer that scaffolds a fresh Laravel application from one questionnaire — starter kit, Sail services, quality tooling and package catalogs wired up before the first commit.

Open source Laravel PHP Docker

Overview

Kalimera — good morning, fresh Laravel. It replaces the boilerplate repository with a CLI that asks a short questionnaire and then builds the project: app name, starter kit, packages and services, answered once and applied consistently.

The problem it solves is that boilerplates rot. A template repository is a snapshot of what was current the day it was made, and every project started from it inherits that day's decisions plus whatever manual setup nobody wrote down. Kalimera generates against the current Laravel release instead, so the scaffold is reproducible rather than archaeological.

A run installs Laravel with Pest and initialises git, brings up a Docker Sail environment with MySQL, Redis and Mailpit, and remaps ports automatically so several projects can run side by side without collisions. Quality tooling is pre-wired rather than optional: Pint, PHPStan at level 8, and Rector, behind a single composer quality script. Starter kits cover React, Vue, Livewire and Svelte.

Package catalogs are customisable through kalimera.config.json, so a team can pin its own default set instead of accepting someone else's. The same config makes the tool usable non-interactively, which is the point of the AI agent skill integration — an agent can scaffold a project unattended and get the same result a developer would.

The repository is welldigit/kalimera, MIT licensed; the Composer package installs as welldigit/kalimera.
